On Tuesday, December 15th, 2015, Envirotech Office Systems hosted “Chardonnay, Cheese and CEU ’s”.
The CEU event was held at the ARIDO office in Toronto’s Liberty village, and co-sponsored by Envirotech Office Systems and Groupe Lacasse. The event gave local designers and architects a chance to add to their annual CEU credits, network, mingle, and share holiday cheer over wine and hors d’oeuvres.
The evening’s presenter was Sholem Prasow, LEED AP, Founding Director of Insight Management and a former VP of Business Development at Teknion for 20 years. He is an honorary member of the Association of Registered Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) awarded to him for his contributions to Sustainability education to the Design profession. Sholem’s past industry service efforts include serving as a member of the USGBC LEED for Health Care Core Committee, and a member of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) in their Technical Advisory Group. A renowned presenter who has delivered CEU courses in Sustainable Design as well as LEED Accreditation coaching courses to the Architecture and Design and client community across North America and Asia. We were very honoured to have him share with us his knowledge and insights.
The topic for our A&D event was
Leveraging Furniture to Optimize LEED v4 for Commercial Interiors; Overcoming the Barriers (HSW-Sustainability)
Sholem presented some information about what was new in the new LEED V4 and attendees learned how best to select a “blended solution” of both new and remanufactured furniture to optimize sustainability results. The presentation and discussion showed how the USGBC and CAGBC continue to raise the bar significantly for new products making it harder to achieve desired LEED targets with LEED v4. In contrast, it is easier to achieve LEED v4 credits and points using reused and remanufactured products than in LEED 2009.
The new trend of a ‘blended solution’ is offering designers a chance to be more creative with their projects; helping save their clients money while also helping to protect the environment.
Over 52 guests were in attendance. Some of our guests for the evening were designers from Stantec, Ray Inc, DePM, SGH and other design firms in the Toronto and Greater Toronto Area.
We at Envirotech would like to thank all the designers who came out to enjoy the evening, for our sponsor Group Lacasse for helping this event a great success, for ARIDO for allowing us the opportunity to host the event in such a beautiful space, and again, for Sholem Prasow for his presentation.
